Okay, the sticky cover system is still very much of its time, but this feels like a game somebody might have wanted to make and put some creativity in to. It's much less apologetically a game, for starters, and pillages the trilogy for ideas for fun sequences rather than being bound to a specific plot. It slots in a knowingly cheesy quartet of martial arts movie adventures when Neo is doing his training, and an honestly Mario-like platforming tutorial in place of the Jump Program. I think this might actually be good? It's definitely better than Enter the Matrix.

Some of them are weird, and you can't remap them, but they're actually the same mappings the PS2 game had. You'll see stuff from out of frame that wasn't meant to be there, and it caused me some no-image problems so I removed it.Ī Dual Shock 4 works immediately with the correct button mappings.
